We have used teletherapy for many years and find it to be a valuable tool to offer therapy sessions flexibly, conveniently and at a lower cost while maintaining the same high standards of client-patient relationship and therapy efficiency.
Most children enjoy using technology and are familiar with communicating over applications like Skype, FaceTime or WhatsApp. For adults and teenagers with a busy schedule this is often the only way to fit therapy sessions into their day. Speech and language therapy via your computer or tablet makes it possible to access our expertise wherever you live.
Just like in a face-to-face session, the therapist chooses activities specific to the patient's speech and language difficulty. With older children and adults, we work directly through these activities. With younger children, we ask the parents to have specific toys ready for the session, explain the activity and watch them carrying out the activity with their child, giving feedback during and after the session. A summary is sent via email at the end of the session along with specific feedback on the patient’s work in the session and a suggested activity to practice. Some of the activities are sent ahead via email and are available for reuse after the actual session.
